Until November, Puppenkönig will still be there for its loyal customer base and also for those who will no longer have a chance to become a part of that. Then the doors of the historic building will close forever. But before that, everything has to go.

A going-out-of-business sale began on Thursday morning and has already attracted numerous bargain hunters. In addition to the usual assortment of toy store items, some interior decor such as clothes stands and child-friendly ceiling lights are also being sold.

Puppenkönig closes as one of the last long-established and family-run businesses in the city: Carthaus on Remigiusstraße recently made headlines when, after 160 years, it closed its specialty shop which carried paper, office supplies and stationery.

The media company Carthaus now concentrates on the publishing of telephone and address books, and advises in areas such as on-line marketing. The fact that businesses like Puppenkönig come to an end, moves Bonn citizens and merchants alike. For generations, people have shared beautiful memories of the toy store with the GA.
