What are the pubs with cult status in Bonn? We asked around in the editorial office of the General-Anzeiger and compiled a very subjective – but nevertheless meaningful – list:

Pavlow

The day in Pawlow begins with a delicious breakfast in the morning – the milky coffee is known all over town. The outdoor terrace invites you to linger until the café turns into a pub with electro, 60's and punk music.

Limes

Limes is the right place for beer lovers and those who want to become one. The assortment is large with 50 types of beer on offer and daily specials always offer good and cheaper alternatives. If you want to do some “sport” in between, you can expend some energy by playing table football.

Namenlos

A cosy atmosphere, table football and events such as singer-songwriter concerts make the Namenlos an important Bonn’s nightlife venue. Bundesliga games are also shown there.

Babel

In this cozy Altstadt pub you can not only enjoy all kinds of drinks, but also a special pub feeling, together with football coverage. Because of the beautiful ambience with rustic wooden furniture, the Babel is not only popular with young students.

Wache

In the Wache, Rock’n’Roll is the main source of musical entertainment, but the daily event specials such as bingo days, table football tournaments or pub quizzes also make the Wache a well-known studio and party bar. On Sundays all whiskeys are available at half-price.

Nyx

Nyx is in the heart of the Altstadt. In the pub, you can taste the beer, wine and schnapps taste in a rustic ambience. If you want to dance a little bit as well, you have hit the right place and can go to the back rooms to shake a leg to the music. The cult pub is open daily from 7 p.m. until the early morning hours.

Billa-Bonn

The Billa-Bonn moved again some time ago, but remains a popular pub in the Bonn Altstadt. You can get Irish beers on tap, as well as Kösch and Pils. If you are feeling puckish, this cult bar also offers small snacks. Musically the pub offers everything from 80s rock and pop as well as some heavy metal.

Tresor

Tresor describes itself as a contact point for all nocturnal souls in search of heavy metal and hard rock in Bonn. In Tresor, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica and other heavy metal acts sound from the speakers. For those who want to sing along, there is a selection of over 40 types of whisky to oil the vocal chords, in addition to draught beer. A dart machine, table football and various pub games round off the programme.

Blow Up

For some time, the Blow Up has had a shiny new look: After many years, the traditional pub has moved from its location in the Viktoriakarree to new premises at the Sterntorbrücke. The music, drinks and flair have remained the same – only the lay-out is back-to-front and in the basement.

Irish Pubs & venues

Zebulon

The Zebulon is located at the Stockentor in direct proximity to the Hofgarten and is therefore ideal for an after-work beer. This is where young students meet up with the regular clientele. “Quiet was for yesterday” is the message on their Facebook page. Daily specials and Rock’n’Roll are further attractions.

The Fiddlers

The Fiddlers promises an Irish pub atmosphere in the middle of Endenich. Strong dark Irish beer or a refreshing Kölsch can be enjoyed there with live music, quiz nights, karaoke or comedy events. The pub also officially shows football coverage. Delicacies such as fish & chips, burgers, pasta and salads are also on the menu.

James Joyce IrishPub

The James Joyce offers a large selection of whiskey and beer, delicious food, pool games, darts and sports coverage. From Sundays to Thursdays there are alternating special events.

Zum Römerkanal

If you are looking for a typical village pub with good cuisine, the restaurant Zum Römerkanal in Buschhoven is just right. Good food and a rustic atmosphere invite you to stay a while.
