Late on Sunday afternoon, 30 firefighters from the Bonn fire brigade were deployed to the LVR clinics at Kaiser-Karl-Ring, following the triggering of the automatic fire alarm system from a ward on the ground floor at 5.04 p.m.

As the fire brigade announced yesterday evening, the nursing staff noticed a fire in a patient’s room and immediately brought all patients of the ward to secure areas within the building. Two nurses were slightly injured during the proceedings.

Fire-fighting measures were not necessary, according to the fire brigade. A ventilation unit was used to remove smoke from the affected area. The operation was concluded at about 18.30. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
