Bonn · Expect a wave of energy this Sunday when the Nikolaus Run gets underway. The live nativity play in Wachtberg is a favorite with children. And a short jaunt to Bad Neuenahr to see the riverside lights is also a great tip. Enjoy your weekend!

"The Truth About Dinner For One."

The legendary British cult sketch "Dinner for One" is a must-see for many people in Germany when they bring in the new year. And now "Die Wahrheit über Dinner for One" (The Truth About Dinner for One) will be revealed: We will go to the year 1962 to the Edward Taylor Theater in Blackpool, England, where five performances of the sketch are to be performed on New Year's Eve. Why the curtain opens for only two of the original six actors is explained to the audience in the Contra Kreis Theater.

ONAIR So this is Christmas

The Berlin a cappella band ONAIR has won many awards. With their program "So this is Christmas" the musicians celebrate the spirit of Christmas: touching arrangements of classical and modern Christmas songs from "Maria durch ein Dornwald ging" to Bach/Gounod's "Ave Maria" to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" or Coldplays "Fix you".

“Engel und Esel “ (“Angel and donkey”) - Christmas story for children aged 3 and over

The cheeky little donkey Fridolin nearly stumbles over an angel. He wants to tell the children the Christmas story, but unfortunately he is very forgetful. With the help of the little donkey, who knows Mary and Joseph personally, the angel's memory comes back. So the two of them talk about the great miracle and sing merrily to the birth of Christ.

"Uferlichter" (“Lights at the riverside”) in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler

The "Uferlichter" in the spa park of Bad Neuenahr promises a "new kind of Christmas celebration". Master florist Gregor Lersch creates a dreamlike atmosphere of light and decorations on the banks of the Ahr River. There will also be music, regional specialities to eat and drink, and other unique items on offer from the vendors in the park.

Wachtberg Nativity Play

Visit this live Christmas nativity play with horses, sheep, ox and donkey, dog and goats. After the play, the children are allowed to pet the animals that were part of the play. Food and beverages available. It is suggested to dress warmly, including warm shoes and perhaps even bring a blanket.

Madame Butterfly at the Bonn Opera

For Giacomo Puccini, "Madama Butterfly" was the most sentimental opera he ever wrote - although or precisely because its premiere in 1904 was a fiasco: the audience rejected the tragic opera from the start but a few months later, Madama Butterfly celebrated resounding success with a slightly modified version - and it continues to this day.

Family workshop at the Deutsches Museum

Where do we find paper in daily life and what can be done with it? In the Deutsches Museum's family workshop, children and accompanying adults face their very own challenges - and build stable constructions and flying objects from paper, working together in teams. The workshop for the exhibition "IST DAS MÖGLICH?" (“Is this possible?”) is suitable for children aged 4 to 10.

Bonn Nikolaus Run

The Nikolaus Run (after St. Nicholas) on the Erpeler Ley has long been a tradition. Now Bonn also has its Nikolaus Run: On Sunday, the circuit leads through the Rheinaue with distances of up to 10 kilometers. The proceeds will go to the Bunter Kreis Rheinland association. Registration is already closed but feel free to come along and support all those runners in red!

Benefit Christmas Concert Christmas United

“Christmas United" features various choirs, instrumentalists and soloists performing in the Luther Church in Bonn for the benefit of Lighthouse Bonn's hospice work.
