Bonn According to police, a 55-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old passenger on bus line 601 on Monday afternoon. The victim was critically injured and taken to hospital.
It was shortly after 4 pm when the fully occupied bus of line 601 wanted to leave from the central bus station in the direction of Tannenbusch. Suddenly there was great agitation in the vehicle, passengers ran in panic to the driver and shouted to him that a passenger had been stabbed: Veronika John from the press office of the municipal utilities company reported on the situation, as the driver himself had previously described it to his team manager.
The bus came to a halt, and a little later several police and ambulance vehicles were at the scene of the crime. As police spokesman Frank Piontek reported, the suspected perpetrator had also injured his hand. He was taken to hospital too.
He was subsequently taken to the police headquarters. The officers secured the video recordings from the bus and escorted passengers to the GABI station, where emergency care was provided. The bus driver (52) was also looked after.
In the meantime, the homicide squad of the Bonn police, headed by Reinhold Jordan, has started investigations and forensics on site in close cooperation with public prosecutor Sebastian Weikinger. The investigations are continuing. Shortly after the crime, the officers blocked the south underpass. Buses were diverted and trams stopped running. At 5.10 pm local traffic was back to normal, according to John.
The police are asking all passengers who left the bus after the crime to report to the criminal investigation department as witnesses at 02 28/15-0 in order to provide information on the facts of the case.
