September 21 - 23 : Weekend tips for Bonn and the region

This weekend there are events which show the diversity in our region, celebrate children and also take advantage of the late summer weather with a wine festival in a picturesque village and a flea market in a leisure park.

Bonn Festival of Cultures 2018

On September 23, Sunday in Bonn city center, it will once again be time for the Bonn Festival of Cultures, from 11am until 7pm. There will be lots going on at Münsterplatz with more than 90 clubs and organizations represented. Visitors can expect music and dance, food and drink and lots more to celebrate the diversity of Bonn. Mayor Ashok Sridharan will be there at 2pm for the official opening. After that, an integration prize will be presented by the chair of the Integration Council.

Production of “Appartement” at the GOP

Located in the heart of the federal district, between the World Conference Center Bonn and the Bonn Marriott Hotel, the GOP Variety Theater Bonn offers entertainment for everyone. There is also the Restaurant Leander and an impressive Piano Bar. Currently showing is “Appartement”. The noble couple Du Févre takes on a few lodgers in their Paris apartment to cut costs. The resulting group of housemates is explosive, and the protagonists of the new GOP variety show express themselves through acrobatic and comedic means. Latin American choir

It gets even more international this weekend with a Latin American choir presenting Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez. The choir is called Voces de las Américas and they will feature soloists as well. They will sing on Saturday, September 22 at 8pm in the historic community hall of the Erlöser Chruch, Kronprinzenstraße 31, Bonn. Admission to this event is free.

Last weekend of Beethovenfest

It’s the last weekend of the Beethovenfest in Bonn. On Friday at 8pm, there is a concert called “Songs of fate, old and new” the World Conference Center Bonn and on Saturday, there is “Heaven and Hell” at the WCCB. On Sunday, it is the closing concert “For Future Ages”, also at the WCCB. For a complete listing and details about the events in English, please see beethovenfest.de/en/

The “Blickwechsel II” (“Change of Viewpoint”) exhibit at Craftkontor in Bonn-Bad Godesberg invites visitors to broaden their viewpoints and look ahead without losing sight of tradition. The gallery celebrates its 10th birthday with a presentation of unique works by Karin Bablok (porcelain), Sundari Arlt (wood) and Frieda Dörfer (jewelry). It’s a kind of concept store, a venue for innovative artifacts that regularly presents exhibits dedicated to diverse themes. Aficionados hunting for museum-quality collector’s items will find their prey, as will people searching for unusual gift items.
