Disruption for ICE trains ICE route between Cologne and Frankfurt is open again

MONTABAUR · An ICE train which got stuck on the track caused the route between Cologne and Frankfurt to be blocked off on Thursday morning. It affected passengers who boarded in Siegburg.

At around 7:34 am Thursday morning, the ICE 616 train became stuck near Montabaur after having developed a technical problem. No trains could use the ICE route between Cologne and Frankfurt until the problem was resolved at around 11 am.

A spokesperson from Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) said the train was evacuated and the track completely closed off. Passengers who boarded in Siegburg were also affected by the disruption as it is one of the stops between Cologne and Frankfurt.
