Rodenkirchener Straße 30-year-old finds human body part in Wesseling

Wesseling-Berzdorf · On Tuesday a human body part was found in Wesseling. Since the police cannot rule out a violent crime, a homicide squad is now investigating.

At noon on Tuesday, a 30-year-old man found a human body part next to a small crosswalk on Rodenkirchener Straße in Wesseling-Berzdorf. On Wednesday, the search for and securing of evidence at the site and in the nearby green area continued.

According to the police, a violent crime cannot be ruled out at present. They set up a homicide squad. Riot police and service dogs supported the search measures.

The investigators recovered the body part and are currently having it examined by forensic medicine. The first results are expected at the end of the week at the earliest. It was not said which part of a human body was involved.

Forensic medicine has been called in for the investigation. Results are not expected before the weekend, the police stressed. The background is completely unclear.

Witnesses who have made suspicious observations in the area around Rodenkirchener Strasse in the past few days are asked to contact the investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department 11 by telephone on (0221) 229-0 or by e-mail at poststelle.koeln@polizei.nrw.de.
